HOW TO Sell a Ticket in Tessitura
Objective
This article shows the steps needed to sell tickets in Tessitura, adding new constituents in Tessitura, how to use Gift Certificates, and selling tickets for future dates. You will need access to Tessitura, if you do not have a login please reach out to IT.

Selling Tickets
Getting Started
1) Login to Tessitura Prod with the Ticketing user groupa) If this is your first-time logging into Tessitura follow the How to Login into Tessitura guide
2) To start a new order, click on "Ticket Orders" in the top ribbon of Tessitura
3) You will be prompted to start a New Batch or select an existing batch
4) If you're starting your shift, click "New Batch"
a) If you're returning to your station, double click on your open batch
6) A new window will pop up titled "Add New Batch"
7) The Select Batch Type dropdown should be "Ticket Uncontrolled"
8) Click "OK"
9) The "Order Details" screen will load, and you will be ready to start selling tickets
10) Depending on your station, change the MOS (Modes of Sale) dropdown to what you need to sell that day. For example, if you're in Boeing, you'll want to change the MOS to one of the Boeing options in order to see Concession options
11) There are two tabs to sell tickets from: "Order Details" and "QuickSale"
12) If you're selling tickets for the day it is best to "QuickSale," if selling for a future date go the the Future Sales section
Using QuickSale
1) Click on the QuickSale tab there will be options to sell General Admission, Laser Shows, Planetarium tickets. They'll will be represented by big colorful buttons on the screen
a) If you're selling to guest, go to the "Check-In Guest" section to ensure the sale is part of their profile
2) Click on the desired ticket type you're selling
3) Below there will be value options for Adult, Child, and Senior. If the person purchasing is a member, use the membership version of these value boxes
4) Click on "Add to Cart" before adding any other tickets
5) Once all required tickets are added, click on "Pay"a) Optional: A Guest may add a Contribution to their order or round up their total to the nearest dollar. Use the "Roud Up" or "Contribution" button and add it to the cart
6) A new window titled "Payments" will open
7) Click on the type of payment the guest is using
a) EMV CC (Credit or Debit Card)b) Cashc) Gift Cert
8) If using Cash, you may type in the amount under "Tendered" or use the provided amount buttons on the screen
9) Click on "Apply Payment" and then select "Finish" to process the transaction
10) If it wasn't applied at the beginning, enter the Source code. If you're unsure of the Source code, click on the magnify glass button to search
11) After inputting the source, a new window will pop-up requesting the guest's zip code. Ask the guest for their zip code and type it into the box
12) The tickets will print to the assigned printer, if a print isn't assigned to your station a new window will pop up asking which printer the request should go to
13) Select "Boca Printer"
14) If selling tickets to a Member, check the "Acknowledgement" box before printing
15) Click "Finish"
16) After the tickets print, you will be returned to the Order Details page
Future Sales
1) Click on the "Product Catalog" tab
2) A calendar view will appear with all scheduled shows and showtimes
a) Note: The down facing arrows on the calendar mean there are more items to scroll through for that day
3) Right click on the desired ticket then select "Add to Order Basket"
4) The item will be moved to the box below
5) In the "Price Type" column, indicate which type of ticket is being purchased
6) Then in the "Pur" column, type or use the arrow keys to provide the numerical value
7) Repeat steps to add any other ticket types (i.e. Youth)
8) Return to the "Order Details" tab
9) Highlight each line item by clicking on them
10) Click on "Best Seat"
11) Then select the "Payment" button in the top ribbon
12) A new window titled "Payments" will popup
13) Select the Payment Method by using the dropdown
14) If taking a Credit Card number over the phone, click on the button that looks like a pin pad and then type in the card manually
15) A new window will pop up titled "Survey" that will ask for the guest's zip code
16) Enter the guest's zip code and click on "Save"
17) The tickets will print to the assigned printer, if a print isn't assigned to your station a new window will pop up asking which printer the request should go to
18) Select "Boca Printer"
19) If selling tickets to a someone with a Constituent record, check the "Acknowledgement" box before printing
20) If the guest does not have a Constituent record, it is highly recommended to create one so that we can send the acknowledgement to their email address
21) Click "Finish"
22) After the tickets print, you will be returned to the Order Details page
IMAX Tickets
1) In QuickSale click on the "Go To" button for Documentary IMAX or Studio IMAX
a) Note: Guests do not need to purchase a GA ticket to see an IMAX movie but they do need one to see a Planetarium or a daytime Laser show
2) Then click on the Title and desired time slot, add ticket type, and click "Add to Cart"
a) Note: Ensure that the number of IMAX tickets being sold matches the same as the GA Tickets
3) Follow the Payment process and print the tickets
Gift Certificates
Using Gift Certificates
1) After adding items to the cart, select "Pay"
2) Change "Payment Method" to "Gift Certificate" from the dropdown
3) Click the circle next to "Redeem"
4) Type in the dollar amount under the "Gift Cert Amt"
5) Under the "Gift Cert No" box, type in the eight-digit gift certificate code
6) Tessitura will pull the max amount from the gift certificate
7) Any outstanding balance will be owed by the Guest
8) A new window will pop up titled "Survey" that will ask for the guest's zip code
9) Enter the guest's zip code and click on "Save"
10) The tickets will print to the assigned printer, if a print isn't assigned to your station a new window will pop up asking which printer the request should go to
11) Select "Boca Printer"
12) If selling tickets to a someone with a Constituent record, check the "Acknowledgement" box before printing
Selling Gift Certificates
1) On the Order Details page, before proceeding with adding items click on the "Payments" icon in the top ribbon of Tessitura
2) Select "Gift Certificate" from the dropdown under "Payment Method"
3) When selling and if applicable, you may add a "Gift Cert Recipient Name", but it not required
4) Add any To or From information into the "Notes" box
5) Click "Apply Payment"
6) The Gift Certificate will be added to the "Payments" box on the right side of the window
7) In parentheses, there will be an eight-digit code. This will print out on the Gift Certificate
8) Guests will need to know the Gift Certificate code if they lose their printed copy
9) Now that the GC is in the cart, apply the payment method the purchaser is using, and continue the transaction as usual
10) A new window will pop up titled "Survey" that will ask for the guest's zip code
11) Enter the guest's zip code and click on "Save"
12) The gift certificate will print to the assigned printer, if a print isn't assigned to your station a new window will pop up asking which printer the request should go to
13) Select "Boca Printer"
14) If selling tickets to a someone with a Constituent record, check the "Acknowledgement" box before printing
Constituent Management
Check-in Members
1) From the Order Details page, click on the gray box in the "Owner" field changing it from "Gen. Public" to the Member profile
2) The Constituent Search page will load. Use whichever search mode you prefer (Single line, Basic, Advanced, etc.)
3) Type at least the First and Last name into the search
4) Double click on the "Household" account
5) You will be returned to the "Order Details" screen with the Constituent information showing near the top
6) Go the Quicksale or Furture Sales section to sell Membership accounts and GA tickets
Add a New Constituent
1) If the name you are searching for is not in Tessitura, you will be prompted to create a new profile.
2) Click "Yes"
3) A new window will pop up titled "New Constituent"
4) Select "Household" for the Constituent Type unless otherwise specified (i.e. Organization, School)
5) The new constituent profile will load, add Affiliates, Street Address, Original Source, Email, etc.
a) To finish the profile, you must provide a street address
6) In the "Other" section near the bottom, click on the drop down next to "Original Source" and select "Admissions"
7) Before saving the profile, read back the information to the guest to verify it is correct
8) Once confirmed, click the "Save" button in the top ribbon of Tessitura
9) Click "Yes"
10) You will return to the Search Constituent page with the newly added Constituent
11) Return to the Quicksale or Furture Sales section to continue
